Bluebirds stay as a family for the breeding season and the male and female may remain monogamous for future seasons.

Bluebirds tend to return to the same breeding grounds each year.  However the young will generally find new grounds for themselves.

Bluebirds are cavity nesters and had previously suffered from the grandual loss of their habitat.  However their numbers are now increasing. This is attributed in part to artifical nesting box made by bird lovers.
